- 500 SPM top scorers, who were rejected Public Service Department (PSD) scholarships earlier, will be awarded 1MDB grants to study in local private and public institutions.
- Priority will be given to 8A+ scorers who failed to get the PSD scholarship.
- 60% of them are Bumiputera students while the remaining percentage are non-Bumiputera students.
- For Bumiputera applicants from Sabah and Sarawak, they need to achieve at least 5A+ or 6A+ to be eligible.
- Low-income families (lower than RM5,000) and school locations will be also be taken into account for them.
- The scholarships to public universities will be worth RM7,500 annually.
- Scholarships to private universities in critical and non-critical courses will be worth RM15,000.
- SPM students who have received other scholarships will not be considered.
* Examples of critical courses are medicine, dentistry and chemistry.* Examples of non-critical courses are mass communication, law, art and design.
