The New Student Oath Taking ceremony was held at the Seminar Hall, UUM Convention Complex. The new student pledge recital was led by a Bachelor of Public Administrationstudent, Mr Suhaimi Md Shoib. This ceremony, which marked the significant beginning of a new academic session for PJJ students, was witnessed by the Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Academic and International Affairs), Prof Dr Hassan Ali and the Director of UUM Professional and Advanced Centre for Education (PACE), Dr Fairol Halim.

In his speech, Prof Hassan Ali said that for this semester, the students were enrolled in two degree programmes in UUM.

“For this semester, 26 students are enrolled in the Bachelor of Public Management programme whilst another 144 students are enrolled in the Bachelor of Business Administration programme.

I hope that the students are prepared physically and mentally to assume their new roles and responsibilities as undergraduates and I wish them all the best in their noble quest for a degree,” he added.

The overall aim of the distance learning programme was to provide opportunities for people to improve their academic qualifications as well as improving their quality of life.

“I would like to emphasise that the distance learning programme is not an easy way to obtain a degree. In order to succeed, students must be able to find ways to balance their work, studies and personal lives.

I also believe that the distance learning students are more mature as most of them are in full-time employment,” he said.
