Petaling Jaya, 30 November 2024 – The National Association of Private Educational Institutions (NAPEI) celebrated its 37th anniversary in grand style with the highly anticipated Malam NAPEI and NAPEI Excellence Awards 2024, held at the Grand Ballroom of Hotel Avante, Bandar Utama.
The event, attended by over 240 distinguished guests, brought together leaders, stakeholders and representatives from across Malaysia's vibrant private education sector. The gathering underscored NAPEI’s pivotal role in fostering innovation, inclusivity and excellence in private education. The event also welcomed senior government officials, industry leaders and educators, showcasing the collaborative spirit in driving the sector forward.
Message from the Ministry of Higher Education
The highlight of the evening was the keynote speech delivered by Prof. Datuk Dr. Azlinda Azman, Director General of Higher Education, on behalf of YB Dato' Seri Diraja Dr. Zambry Abd Kadir, Minister of Higher Education.
In her speech, Prof. Datuk Dr. Azlinda reaffirmed the Ministry's commitment to the private education sector as a key partner in Malaysia's educational landscape. She emphasised the importance of collaboration, future-ready education, and the need for graduates to be equipped with critical thinking skills, adaptability, and a global mindset in the era of Industry 4.0.
She also encouraged private educational institutions registered with the Ministry to join NAPEI, strengthening its representation and ensuring a unified voice for policy-making and industry discussions.
Recognising Excellence in Private Education
A key feature of the evening was the presentation of the NAPEI Excellence Awards 2024, which recognised outstanding achievements in private education. Award recipients were lauded for their unwavering commitment to innovation, quality and the holistic development of students.
Speaking at the event, Assoc. Prof. Elajsolan Mohan, President of NAPEI commended the award winners, stating, “These accolades are a testament to the dedication and perseverance of institutions that continue to set benchmarks for excellence in education. Tonight, we celebrate not just individual achievements but also the collective spirit of innovation that defines our sector.”

With the theme, “The Symphony of Minds: The Collaboration and Integration of the Private Education Industry,” the event emphasised the importance of unity in addressing global challenges and elevating the standards of education in Malaysia.
The private education sector continues to be a driving force in complementing the public education system, enhancing accessibility, diversity and quality. NAPEI remains steadfast in its mission to advocate for the sector and foster partnerships that align with global trends and local needs.
The evening concluded with a resounding message of collaboration, innovation and a shared vision for the future of education in Malaysia.
