Maclean's, an online magazine from Canada published a controversial article which linked terrorism with graduates from engineering courses.
Twosocial scienceexperts, Steffen Hertog from German and Diego Gambetta from Italy initiated this issue when they linked terrorism with engineering course, and deny that the violence stemmed from religion.
They wrote a book entitled Engineering in Jihad: The Curious Connection between Violent Extremism and Education, discussing the relation between engineering fields and terrorism.
According to Hertog, out of 83 terrorist profiles that were studied, 45 percent of them have a Bachelors Degree in Engineering. Hertog also added that these terrorists are usually the leaders, and not on the technical side.
They also remarked that the lack of women engineers in certain engineering fields is one of the factors that lead them to become terrorists.
