Afterschool
February 27, 2013
It was an educational and eye-opening experience for school leavers recently as they learned ways to improve their public university applications during a career talk organised by the New Straits Times recently. Held at the auditorium of Women’s Institute of Management, the event attracted about 200 participants including students, school counsellors and parents.
School leavers got the chance to listen as well as ask questions. Speakers were from the Unit Pengambilan Universiti (UPU), Malaysian Qualifications Agency (MQA), Perbadanan Tabung Pendidikan Tinggi Nasional (PTPTN) and the Malaysian Association of Private Colleges and Universities (MAPCU). Here are 7 important things we learned from last Saturday's NST Career Talks.
NST Career Talks is a four-series event. The next event, happening March 2nd, will focus on various pathways to becoming a professional engineer. Speakers include Executive Director Ir Ashari bin Mohd Yakub of Board of Engineers Malaysia; Prof. Ir Dr Ramesh Singh of University of Malaya; and Ir Abdul Azim bin Adbul Razak of IEM & Mechanical Engineering Technical Division.
