As an organisation that is trying to empower Malaysians through education, Teach For Malaysia has a strong social mission and a youthful culture to go along with it. Whilst they mainly recruit fresh graduates to participate in their two-year immersive teaching programme, they also run internship programmes for various positions throughout the year.

Think City is part of the reason behind Penang’s meteoric rise as a cultural hub in Malaysia. As a community-based urban regeneration body, Think City works with local communities, international bodies and the government to create better cities. Beginning in Georgetown with the UNESCO World Heritage Site, Think City has grown to include Johor Bahru, Butterworth and Kuala Lumpur.

Raleigh KL is a non-profit NGO facilitating what is known as the four challenges, as put forward by the larger Raleigh movement. This includes “Being selected”, “Raising Funds”, “Going for Expedition”, and “Contributing Locally”. The Raleigh programme is not an internship programme, but the experience itself will serve as a great experience and foster independence, as well as, civic engagement among young Malaysians.

As their name implies, COAC is working to advance the cause of the Orang Asli through various means. Few Malaysians can boast extensive knowledge of the issues surrounding the Orang Asli, but that is why COAC would be an ideal place for a young Malaysian to learn, grow and contribute.
