UPM appoints new vice-chancellor

Universiti Putra Malaysia (UPM) has appointed Prof Datin Paduka Dr Aini Ideris as vice-chancellor for two years effective January 1, 2016.

The Higher Education Ministry on Saturday said the former UPM Corporate Strategy and Communications director replaces Prof Datuk Dr Mohd Fauzi Ramlan whose term ended recently.

Kelantan-born Prof Aini holds a veterinary medicine degree from Universiti Pertanian Malaysia, a MVSc in Avian Medicine from the University of Liverpool, England and a PhD in Avian Medicine.

She also pursued post-doctoral studies at the University of California, Davis and at Cornell University, USA through an Asian Development Bank Fellowship.

Her experience and knowledge in veterinary earned her recognition to represent committees at the Higher Education Ministry, Science, Technology and Innovation Ministry and Agriculture and Agro-based Industries Ministry.
