  • The Sarawak Corridor of Renewable Energy (SCORE) will need at least 100,000 more engineers by 2030. To meet this demand, state government proposed the establishment of the Universiti Malaysia Sarawak (Unimas) research centre.

According to Sarawak Infrastructure Development and Communications Minister Datuk Seri Michael Manyin, Sarawak had plenty of investment opportunities in the heavy industries, aquaculture, energy and high tech industries within SCORE while Unimas' new green technolgy could be applied to treat waste water and reduce soot and sulphur dioxide (SOx) and nitrogen oxide (NOx) emissions.

"I am sure this knowledge and technology can be used to enhance the environmental management aspect of Score," he added.
