Universiti Teknologi Mara (UiTM) will stop providing enrollment for approximately 121 programs that are considered irrelevant to the current job market demands.

UiTM wishes to avoid this from happening.

According to the Vice-Chancellor, Tan Sri Prof. Ir. Dr. Sahol Hamid Abu Bakar, these programs will be closed gradually to allow new courses to be introduced.

"This transformation will see only courses with high demand to continue in UiTM."

UiTM currently provides more than 300 programmes that ensures high employability of their graduates, such as law, medicine, pharmacy and health sciences which are considered courses with a 100 percent chance of getting jobs.

Sahol Hamid said as replacement to the courses to be terminated, UiTM has introduced new programmes such as courses involving the halal industry in this country.
