UiTM Law Student Awarded Canada-ASEAN Scholarship & Educational Exchange for Development (SEED)

Mohammad Amirul Shafiq bin Mohd Aznan, a final-year student from UiTM Faculty of Law, has been awarded 2020/2021 Canada-ASEAN Scholarship & Educational Exchange for Development (SEED).

Funded by the Global Affairs Canada, this programme is one of the most prestigious and widely recognized scholarships amongst students in ASEAN countries. It provides students from ASEAN countries with short-term exchange opportunities for study or research in any Canadian post-secondary institutions.

Candidates were evaluated based on how their studies would allow them to contribute towards the implementation of the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development in the developing ASEAN countries upon their return.

With this program, Mohammad Amirul Shafiq hopes to participate in various discussions on SDG and tackle issues on poverty crisis and environmental problems.

Lakehead University, CanadaLakehead University, Canada

He will be enrolled in Lakehead University, Canada, and he looks forward to engage further with Bora Laskin Faculty of Law which specialised in Environmental Law and Human Rights.

Upon completion of the program, the resolutions he gathered shall be forwarded to stakeholders in Malaysia. With law being the backbone of SGDs, he aspires to be a part of the implementation of SDGs in Malaysia in the future.
