The Times Higher Education (THE) World University Rankings 2022 featured a total of 18 Malaysian universities.
The three new entries to this rankings include Universiti Pendidikan Sultan Idris (801-1000), Universiti Malaysia Terengganu (1201+), and Universiti Tun Hussein Onn Malaysia (1201+)
As shown in the image below, nine universities in Malaysia have successfully attained position in the top 1000.
The 9 universities include Universiti Malaya (UM), Universiti Teknologi Petronas (UTP), Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia (UKM), UniversitI Putra Malaysia (UPM), Universiti Sains Malaysia (USM), Universiti Teknologi Malaysia (UTM), Universiti Utara Malaysia (UUM), Universiti Pendidikan Sultan Idris (UPSI), and Universiti Tenaga Nasional (UNITEN).
Universiti Teknologi Petronas (UTP) was ranked in the top 800 in the year 2021. In 2022, UTP was ranked among the top 600 universities in the world for the first time. This is UTP’s best performance as the ranking has risen and improved significantly ever since their debut in 2017.
Meanwhile, for the fourth year in a row, Universiti Malaya (UM) has retained its position in the top 350 universities in the world, ranking in the 301-350 range. This is yet another huge milestone achieved considering a total of 1,662 universities were listed in the Times Higher Education World University Rankings 2022.
Not to forget the other Malaysian universities that were also listed in The Times Higher Education World University Rankings 2022, including University Malaysia Perlis, Universiti Tunku Abdul Rahman, Universiti Kuala Lumpur, Universiti Malaysia Sarawak, Multimedia University, Universiti Teknikal Malaysia Melaka, Universiti Teknologi MARA, Universiti Malaysia Terengganu, and Universiti Tun Hussein Onn Malaysia.
A huge congratulations to these 18 Malaysian universities for not only making it to the Times Higher Education World University Rankings, but for retaining high rankings.
