Too many graduates in education

The teacher recruitment policy can not be opened to ALL graduates of education.

This includes those who graduated from Private Higher Education Institutions (IPTS) as there is a strict hiring quota to be adhered to.

Minister in the Prime Minister's Department Datuk Joseph Entulu said that at present post-graduate education in Public Universities and the Institut of Pendidikan Guru (IPG) is also somewhat exceeding the job vacancies.

"That's why it is hard for us to allow students from private institutions (trained in education) to become teachers in primary and secondary schools," he said.

He also said that the recruitment of teachers is carried out by the Ministry of Education (MOE) and the Public Service Commission (SPA) is only responsible for appointment related services.

"Recruitment of teachers is subject to vacancies notified by the Ministry of Education," said Joseph.
