Home to an array of prestigious universities, the UK has one of the largest international student communities. It is also the second most desired international destination for higher education among Malaysians.
The city of Birmingham is among the education hubs that offer students the opportunity of meeting new people, discovering new interests and pursuing internationally recognised degrees.

Art enthusiasts would love admiring the paintings and sculptures found in the many art galleries that line the streets of Birmingham. For those who enjoy gazing at impressive architectural structures, there are many interesting historic buildings all around the city such as St Phillip’s Cathedral.
Those who visit Birmingham will never go hungry with the cluster of restaurants and bars at every corner. From fine dining restaurants to street stalls, the city’s thriving food and beverage industry will leave one spoilt for choice. A coveted educational institute
Among the list of reputable institutions is the University of Birmingham. The University is currently ranked 90th in the QS World University Rankings 2022, so it is little wonder that the educational institute is favoured by students across the globe.

Highfliers Research Limited conducted an annual review of The Graduate Market in 2021 and established that the students who graduated from the University of Birmingham are the most sought-after employees by top organisations in the UK.
The institute’s Edgbaston campus is located approximately 3 miles from the centre of the city and being the only university in the UK to have its very own railway station, students have convenient access between the heart of Birmingham and the campus.
The University boasts a Victorian architectural design that is surrounded by green spaces and walkways for students to take a load off after a day of intensive learning. The world’s largest freestanding clock tower ‘Old Joe’, is at the centre of the University of Birmingham, adding prominence and being a symbol of heritage and culture throughout the years.
The Cream of The Crop
Among many Malaysian students who are thoroughly enjoying their time at the University of Birmingham are Ku Nurul Izzah, Ally Cheah and Nurwina Anuar.
Nurwina Anuar is pursuing a doctorate at Birmingham’s School of Sports & Exercises Sciences and is the president of the Malaysian Society says, “The University has many clubs and societies for students to take part in, which made my student life a lot more exciting. I recommend everyone, not just Malaysians to join the University's Malaysian Society; the other members and I have organised a tonne of fun events this year.”
Alumna Ally Cheah who pursued a Master of Business Administration fully understands why the University claims its spot as one of the most coveted educational institutes in the world. “Aside from the tuition fees being affordable, quality of education is maintained at the highest, which is the main reason I decided to pursue a tertiary education here,” Ally expresses.
For Ku Nurul Izzah who graduated with a Psychology says her tertiary education choice was made easy as Birmingham’s School of Psychology is recognised as one of the best in the UK.
The list of reasons Malaysians choose the University of Birmingham as their preferred university in the UK serves as an affirmation that studying at the University is always a good choice.
