TAR UC was recently being conferred recognition by CFA Institute for being the latest institution of higher learning in Malaysia to earn the highly regarded status as an Affiliated University under the CFA Institute University Affiliation Program. There are only 9 other affiliated universities in Malaysia.
An Affiliated University signals to their students and to employers that their curriculum is closely tied to the practice of investment management and is helpful to students preparing for the CFA Program examinations. Academic institutions that incorporate a significant portion of the CFA Program Candidate Body of Knowledge (‘CBOK’), including the Code of Ethics and Standards of Professional Conduct in their curriculum may be eligible to participate in the University Affiliation Program.
The curriculum of TAR UC’s Bachelor of Finance (Hons) is recognised for having embedded a significant portion of the CFA Program CBOK. Therefore, the contents of the said TAR UC programme prepares the students for the CFA Program examinations. The CFA (“Chartered Financial Analyst” in full) program is a globally recognised professional certification for finance and investment professionals.
Widely considered as the apex for professional development in investment management, professionals who have completed the CFA program and carry the CFA designation are valued by employers for roles and functions in every sector of global finance industry, including portfolio management, research, consulting, risk analysis and risk management, investment strategy, wealth management, credit analysis, financial planning, etc.
Prof Ir Dr Lee Sze Wei, President of TAR UC, is beaming with pride for the latest recognition that TAR UC has achieved. “This is the hallmark of TAR UC, having a curriculum that is industry-relevant and professionally driven, equipping students with the knowledge and skills sought by industries and employers making them career ready. Our students will have the opportunity to opt for the program, thus empowering themselves with professional competency which enables them to build a career in different investment management fields and also facilitate their move up the career ladder,” he said.
