Martin Turner, President of ACCA, United Kingdom graced the auspicious event. Also in attendance were Yang Berbahagia Puan Sri Datin Seri (Dr) Susan Cheah, EXCO Member of Sunway Group, Dato’ (Dr). Chew Chee Kin, President of Sunway Education Group, Lee Weng Keng, CEO of Sunway Education Group, Elizabeth Lee, Senior Executive Director of Sunway Education Group and Teo Ee Sing, Executive Director of Sunway College and Sunway-TES. Guests for the evening included Datin Alexandra Chin, Vice President of ACCA, ACCA Council members Datuk Mohd Nasir Ahmad, Dato’ Khalid Ahmad, Jennifer Lopez, Head of ACCA Malaysia, industry-partners, members of the Sunway-TES Accountancy Graduates Club (SAGC) and its President, Melissa Tan Hui Ying.
In conjunction with the celebration, Martin Turner presented the “10 Year Platinum Award” to Sunway TES.
At the event, members of the SAGC shared some of their experiences including alumna Melissa Tan Hui Ying. Melissa said, “From the years of ACCA programme at Sunway TES, I remembered the dedicated and very qualified lecturers, comprehensive course programme and materials and the availability of facilities and student support, which made my tertiary education a great experience. Graduating with this certificate from the first institution in Malaysia to be awarded this prestigious Platinum Award has definitely opened doors and prepared me for my profession and career. I am proud to have been a student with Sunway TES. Kudos and congratulations to Mr. Teo and his team to have not only successfully achieved this award in 2003 but maintained it for not one but ten years.”
The recognition of Sunway TES has enabled graduates to find work with some of the nation’s top accounting firms.
Industry partners, such as Deloitte, Pricewaterhouse Coopers, and BDO too congratulated Sunway TES on its achievement.
“Through the years, we have worked closely with the management of Sunway TES on producing Chartered Accountants to meet the demands of the employment market. On celebrating the tenth anniversary of your ACCA Platinum status, we wish to congratulate the Management and Staff of Sunway TES for the major milestone it has achieved,” said Deloitte.
PricewaterhouseCoopers said, “Our heartiest congratulations to Sunway TES for celebrating its tenth year as a Platinum Status ACCA Approved Learning Partner. Sunway TES produces many top notch finance and accounting professionals and we find that many of the Sunway TES alumni do well at PwC. Keep up the good work!”

In the recent Sunway TES graduation ceremony, seven graduates came out tops as World Prize Winners for the CAT. For the Malaysia Prizes, there were 8 winners for CAT and 11 for ACCA. To date, Sunway TES has seen 121 World Prize Winners and 393 Malaysia Prize Winners for the CAT and ACCA programmes.
Other highlights of the evening include performances by ACCA graduates and lucky draws.
