Study choices to become a vet in Malaysia

Do you love animals so much that you can't live a day without looking at cat videos on YouTube? Maybe you're destined to be a vet, then!

Check out these pathways to study in Malaysia and become a veterinarian:

Public university

There are only 2 public universities offering this programme:

1. Universiti Putra Malaysia (UPM)

Best to enter via Asasi Sains Pertanian UPM.

2. Universiti Malaysia Kelantan

Entry is through asasi/matrikulasi/STPM.

In addition, if you are from a boarding school (SBP/MRSM), you can now apply into Asasi Sains Pertanian (fast-track) based on your SPM trial result.

Successful applicants will start their studies in January 2016 and upon passing the Asasi will be joining the 1st year Bachelor degree in September 2016 – which is shorter by 1 year compared to normal track.

You also have the option to study the American Degree Program (Health Science) majoring in Veterinary Science.

This American Degree Transfer Program (ADP) is a two years programme that prepares students to complete their Bachelor’s degree in the United States or Canada.

Applicants must have ANY of the following qualifications:

• 5 SPM credits (with a pass in Bahasa Melayu)
• 5 'O' Level credits
• 5 B's in Senior Middle 3 (UEC)/STPM/ 'A' Levels; CPU/ SAM/ ABE (UK)
• or equivalent qualifications
