Literary education in this country is seen as quite worrying since students are more interested in pursuing science in order to ensure a brighter future when entering the workforce, said Minister of Education, Datuk Seri Mahdzir Khalid.
According to him, those perceptions and insights need to be changed by approaching science stream students and giving them a proper understanding of literature.
Positive perceptions as well as writers who have succeeded abroad should be an example to new students or individuals who show an interest in writing," he said.
The things that prevent students from becoming interested in literature like low royalty payment and people's negative perception towards writing career should be settled immediately.
