Strict new social media rules for Malaysian teachers

The Ministry of Education issued a circular prohibiting teachers from uploading images and videos of incidents happening in schools, said Deputy Minister of Education P. Kamalanathan.

According to him, this is done in order to prevent the things that have not been confirmed from becoming viral on social media, and defame the parties involved.

"I urge teachers to be cautious when uploading pictures in the future, as the viral issues are not necessarily true.

"We should not spread pictures or videos without considering the harm it may do to others," explained Kamalanathan after officiating International Book Fair Tour 2016.
