Streaming towards excellence with PPsi

The Psychometric Assessment or Pentaksiran Psikometrik (PPsi) which is mandatory for form three students should not be considered a burden but as an aid for students to enter the appropriate streams in form four, particularly for enrollment to boarding schools.

The Standing Committee Chairperson of Education and Health Datuk Shamshulkahar Mohd. Deli said, to ensure that PPsi runs smoothly, Counselling Teachers were sent to undergo regular training under the Department of Education or the Ministry of Education.

"The allegation that the PPsi is a burden for parents of students is not correct because it really helps students determine their stream, interest and potential to form four after obtaining the results for the Form Three Assessment(PT3).

"PPsi are mandatory for PT3 candidates which is divided into Aptitude Test, which covers Multiple Intelligences Inventory Test and a Personality Inventory," he said.

The test is to asess students' potential towards several aspects: Realistic, Investigative, Artistic, Social, Enterprising, and Conventional.

He said the assessment carried out is in the form of an actual exam where students answer questions without interference or outside influence.

According to him, the PPsi results must be attached with PT3 results when students apply to enter a boarding school or vocational colleges.
