Science teachers to take diagnostic exercise

  • Ministry of Education to administer "health checks" for teachers who teach science in secondary and primary schools

The Education Ministry plans to conduct a diagnostic exam for Science Teachers. This exercise, a combination of practical observation and exam, will measure their content knowledge and teaching skills in that field.  The results of the exercise will help uplift the quality of science education as well as encourage more students to take up Science.

Malaysia is currently undergoing educational transformation, and Inquiry- Based Science Education (IBSE) is one of our focus areas to propel the national education system to greater heights,” said Deputy Director Dr Azian T.S. Abdulla during the International Science, Technology and Innovation Centre for South-South Cooperation

Moreover, the results will help develop the professional development programme which would motivate teachers to deliver effectively the new Secondary School Standard Curriculum (KSSM) and Primary School Standard Curriculum (KSSR), which would be implemented in 2017.
