PM to launch 13-year implementation of Education Reforms

  • To enhance Malaysia’s education system, Prime Minister Najib Razak will launch the blue print for education reforms on 11 September at the Kuala Lumpur Convention Centre.
  • The blue print contains views, recommendations and feedback covering all aspects in hopes of becoming among the world’s best education systems by 2025.
  • After the launch, the blue print will be displayed for public viewing to continue to collect feedback from all relevant parties before fine tuning the contents for tabling in the Cabinet for approval by end-2012.
  • The 13-year implementation consists of three stages. The first stage will take three years while the last two stages will each take about five years to complete.
  • The reforms will include the introduction of English literature to enhance English language among students as well as Mathematics and Science. It will also specify the powers vested on the district education offices.
