Physical Classes for SPM and SVM Candidates To End Starting February 10

The dates of these high stake examinations have been changed and postponed several times now. In the recent announcement made by Education Director General Datuk Dr Habibah Abdul Rahim, SPM and SVM candidates will not have to attend classes anymore starting February 10.

Some schools may still want to conduct additional classes and they are permitted to do so if necessary. However, the schools need to act in accordance with the Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) to fight against the spread of COVID-19.

The candidates are encouraged to do their last minute preparation at the comfort of their home, especially since Chinese New Year holidays will begin soon. Candidates who are staying in hostels and wish to go back to their respective homes are allowed to do so, but again it depends on Movement Control Order (MCO) regulations.

Candidates are given two options, those who decide to go back home can choose to sit for their exams in the nearest exam centre, or they can return to school but will be required to sit for their examination in a separate room.

Most candidates and parents are expressing their worries about the Ministry of Education’s sudden decision in ending face-to-face classes two weeks before these critical exams.
