The state government is looking to increase the number of schools participating in the Dual Language Programme (DLP) to 221 by 2020.
Under the DLP, schools will be given the option to teach Science, Mathematics, Information Technology and Communication as well as Design and Technology in English or Bahasa Malaysia.
Presently, 32 primary and 35 secondary schools in the state are participating in the Dual Language Programme and the state has set its sight on getting 94 primary and 60 secondary schools to take up the programme.
The positive progress shown by the 67 selected schools for the pilot project in the state has led to the strong interest from many other schools throughout the state that wish to participate in the DLP.
