Nilai University and NCL Solutions have entered into a collaboration to provide opportunities for students taking computer programmes. This agreement will enable students to gain the Novell Certified Linux Administrator (NCLA) and Novell Certified Linux Professional (NCLP) certifications. Students will sit for online examinations and upon successful completion of the course, will receive a certificate from Novel, US.
“We should learn as if we were to live forever. When you stop learning, you stop living,” exhorts Cindy Chong, Managing Director of NCL Solutions Sdn Bhd (NCL Solutions). She was speaking to students, staff and VIPs who had gathered at Nilai University’s Flamme restaurant to witness the signing event.
Prof Datuk Dr Megat Burhainuddin (Nilai U Vice-Chancellor and President) andCindy Chong (NCL Solutions Managing Director) during MoU signing.
Chong’s speech underlines the importance of having additional certification to enhance career prospects. “Nilai U is very progressive in that it is encouraging its students to get additional certification over and above the diplomas and degrees. This is recognising the reality of the industry and the real-world demands of employers,” she adds.
Echoing her sentiments was Prof Datuk Dr Megat Burhainuddin, Nilai U Vice-Chancellor and President. He said, “Such certification will serve as evidence that our students have undergone a rigorous academic process above and beyond that of the degree and diploma programmes.”
“The Nilai U community have been rigorously identifying the essential professional organisations which would further benefit our students with their input, training and certification. For example, the University already has in place an agreement with SAP (Systems, Applications, and Products in Data Processing) to allow our students to sit for the Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) module. Students from the School of Hospitality and Tourism benefit from having professional certification from the Malaysian Food and Beverage Executives Association (MFBEA) which highlight that these students are up-to-date with the latest industry trends and practices. These are some of the many initiatives that the University does to ensure our students have a value-add to their diploma and degrees. By getting these exemptions, it paves the way for our students to pursue their ambition in the very competitive IT industry,” adds Datuk Megat.
Nilai U was established in 1997 and is located in the picturesque suburb of Putra Nilai. It has six schools – Foundation Studies, Allied Health Sciences, Business, Hospitality and Tourism, Humanities and Social Sciences, and Engineering, Science and Technology – offering a host of diploma, degree and masters programmes.
