Starting next year, new teacher candidates will undergo psychometric test, a better method to assessing a teacher's mental health. Previously, Institutes of Teacher Education (IPG) use Self Detection Index (IPK) to measure their teacher's mental health.

Psychometric tests are used by many companies and organizations as a means to work out the suitability of potential employees or other participants.

According to Education Deputy Minister P. Kamalanathan,  the ministry would also consider introducing the psychometric assessment in the procedure for promotion as school head to ensure only those who were qualified were appointed to the post.
