ADAMAS School of Weddings teams up with the School of Life Long Learning, Open University Malaysia (SoLL-OUM) to offer the wedding management programme for vocational students, entrepreneurs and aspiring wedding planners. Three programmes will be offered; the Executive Diploma in Weddings & Events Management, the Career Certificate in Weddings Management and the Advance Certificate in Weddings Management.
ADAMAS is a wedding institution in Malaysia that is given license from Weddings Beautiful Worldwide (WBW), established in 1968 in the United States of America that offers the Certification Programme for Wedding Planners. It was also awarded approval to issue franchise licenses for wedding planning and training by the Ministry of Domestic Trade, Co-operatives and Consumerism.
Dr Khoo and students on duty
According to Dr. Khoo Kien Ling, students taking the programme will not only learn wedding planning skills but entrepreneurship and management as well. A few examples of what to expect in the programme are bridal fashion, wine-tasting and learning about wedding cultures. “Most of our students are SPM leavers or those who wish to switch their job profession,” says Dr. Khoo. “It takes years of experience and mistakes to be a well-groomed wedding planner. Students here are taught by industry experts and this will hasten their journey to being a successful wedding planner.”
The wedding management industry is still developing in Malaysia. Unlike countries such as the United States and those in Europe, public awareness of wedding planners are still at its developing stage. Nowadays, there are a growing number of modern couples who turn to wedding planners as they are too busy for the planning and they wanted a memorable wedding ceremony. “In fact, hotels throughout the Klang Valley are fully booked every weekend to cater to the amount of weddings happening,” says Dr Khoo. “Growth will be expected in the industry and there will be a lot of opportunities for existing and new entrepreneurs.”
Besides courses taught in the programme, students will also be given access to OUM’s Digital Library and students will receive a certificate awarded by SoLL-OUM and ADAMAS Weddings. Those who are interested may contact Jialin at +603 6150 8751 or Helma Madhihah at +603-2773 2535.
