KUALA LUMPUR: The United Kingdom is set to welcome Malaysian students for the 2020/2021 academic year. The British Council said that universities there were taking necessary steps to provide their students with a safe learning environment.

"Almost all universities are preparing to deliver some in-person teaching this autumn term, while some will blend face-to-face learning with online technology and tools," it said in a statement. This time around, the UK is also introducing a new Graduate Route, that allows international students to seek employment opportunities in the country after their graduation.

"From summer 2021, international students will be able to stay in the UK and work, or look for work, for two years after graduation (three years for PhD students)," it said. However, the Graduate Route is only available for international students holding a valid Tier 4 visa at the time of application.

The students must also have at least completed an undergraduate degree in order to apply for jobs in UK. Since 2010, 76,190 Malaysian students have pursued their tertiary education in the UK, with 15,000 students having graduated in the 2018-2019 academic year. For more information, CLICK HERE.
