The Malaysian Qualification Agency (MQA) recently revealed that many students have been scammed to studying unaccredited courses by authorized recruiting agents.Graduation hat - edited

According to Malaysian Qualifications Agency Chief Executive Officer, Professor Dr Rujhan Mustafa this syndicate involves higher education institutions's recruiting agents who have been targeting SPM and STPM students.

This syndicate is lead by authorized agents that are appointed by the higher education institutions, and they offer students unaccredited courses in order to gain more profit.

As a result, students who are desperate to obtain a qualification and jobs experience great loss as the qualification received cannot be used to apply for jobs, scholarships or even to pursue studies at another institution.

Beginning last year to June this year, MQA has received more than 130 reports of fraud.

To resolve this issue, MQA came up with Malaysian Qualification Register mobile app to help students check the accreditation status of programmes that they wish to apply.
