More women are studying at Malaysian varsities

More women are enrolling in institutions of higher learning, says Deputy Education Minister Datuk Mary Yap. As of 2013, female enrolment in higher education institutes had reached 55.43 per cent.

“Females have overtaken the males in tertiary education with a gender parity index of 1:1.24,” she said. She added that there is an approximately 11.52 per cent increase in the number of female students in the field of science, technology, and engineering.
