MMU Welcomes ICAEW President for Strengthening Academic Collaborations

On 18 November 2024, MMU was honored to welcome Mr. Malcolm Bacchus, President of the Institute of Chartered Accountants in England and Wales (ICAEW), and his distinguished delegation to its Cyberjaya campus. The visit was warmly received by Prof. Dato’ Dr. Mazliham Mohd Su’ud, President of MMU, who was accompanied by Ir. Prof. Dr. Wong Hin Yong, Vice President of Academic and Innovation Learning, Dr. Siti Zakiah Melatu Samsi, Dean of the Faculty of Business (FOB), and Ts. Dr. Low Jin Hong, Dean of the Faculty of Management (FOM), alongside other faculty members.

This visit signifies another milestone in the long-standing partnership between MMU and ICAEW, which has been cemented through various agreements, joint engagements, and collaborative events over the years. The discussions during the visit focused on exploring new avenues for enhancing this solid relationship, with a shared vision to expand collaborative initiatives that benefit both institutions.

Prof. Dato’ Dr. Mazliham expressed his appreciation for ICAEW’s continuous support, emphasising the mutual commitment to fostering academic excellence and industry relevance in accounting and finance education. Meanwhile, Mr. Bacchus commended MMU’s proactive approach in integrating professional standards into its curriculum, highlighting the university’s dedication to producing graduates who are industry ready. The visit concluded with a fruitful dialogue on potential collaborations, including specialised training programs, industry-academic exchanges, and enhanced pathways for MMU students to pursue ICAEW professional certifications.
