The Ministry of Education will review the terms of admission to Bachelor of Education (PISMP) at the Institut Pendidikan Guru (IPG) to ensure that only high quality teachers are produced.

By comparison, countries like Finland, Hong Kong and Singapore also restrict the admission of future teachers to only the 20 percent to 30 percent of their best graduates.

South Korea sets stricter conditions for entry to only the top 5 percent of their high school graduates.

In 2014, a total of 99.8 percent of the new teachers from IPG had obtained a minimum grade of 5A in their SPM examinations, and the remaining 0.02 per cent of candidates were given flexibility in terms of conditions of entry for certain courses that require talent, special skills and background.

Be the best in SPM!
