Not all medical graduates to undergo housemanship

Malaysian medical graduates to face strict streaming before being offered housemanship.

The Provisional Registration certificate will only be given to outstanding medical graduates to undergo housemanship training.

Medical graduates' incompetence and health problems were the main reasons why Malaysian Medical Council (MMC) decided to arrange for medical graduates to be interviewed by the Commission before they can receive offers as a house officer (Grade UD 41).

Datuk Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah who is also the MMC chairman stated that there had been cases where house officers at the Ministry’s hospitals failed to complete their training within the two years time.

The extended training duration resulted in a limited number of intakes for the next batches as other medical graduates need to wait longer for their housemanship.
