Utusan Online reports that a member of the parliament in Kota Raja, Dr. Siti Mariah Mahmud of the National Trust Party (PAN) said that the program should be replaced with Form 6, as she finds that Form 6 students are more mature than matriculation graduates to pursue their respective degrees.

As a former lecturer for 14 years, she was able to distinguish the quality of students coming from Form 6 and matriculation.

Siti Mariah proposal has been criticized by the government member of parliament, Dr. Noor Azmi Ghazali (Barisan Nasional) who stressed that the matriculation program has produced many Bumiputera experts, including in the field of science.

Dr. Noor Azmi Ghazali disagrees in the fact that the matriculation program students are less mature compared to Form 6 students. However, considering the advances in today's development, he is strongly in support of having the matriculation program and Form 6 to co-exist.
