Update 30/09/2016: it was reported that the missing Malaysian student had returned to her place in France safely.
19 year old female student from Sungai Petani, Kedah can’t be found. Roommate reports her missing.
The student identified as Nur Shakinah Naim was reported missing by her roommate. The Malaysian Embassy was notified on the same day.
The Malaysian authorities contacted the family of the missing student on Monday informing them that their daughter had not returned to her place of residence for several days and is now presumed missing.
Nur Shakinah Naim is studying chemical engineering at the Roanne Institute University of Technology on a scholarship from the Public Service Department.
According to the family, the last established contact with Nur Shakinah Naim was on September 23rd and had no indication of anything unusual or any sign of distress. The family has also reported that the her voice was cheerful and there was nothing that would suggest a problem of any kind.
Nur Shakinah Naim is a bright student with an exceptional record of 10A1 during her SPM results in 2015.
According to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, an official report of the case of was handed to the authorities and has confirmed that the student went missing on September 25th and that the local authorities in France were notified on the same day. This information was made public in a press release published on the official website of The Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
The Malaysian authorities and their French counterparts are working closely to locate Nur Shakinah Naim.
