Malaysian Education Blueprint 2013-2025 focuses on learning of additional languages

 Last Friday, Deputy Prime Minister Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin launched the Malaysia Education Blueprint 2013-2025, describing it as the most comprehensive and biggest manifestation of government transformation in getting the best returns in human capital to drive all national development aspirations.

To boost implementation of the blueprint, PADU or (Education Implementation and Performance Unit) has been assigned to monitor and ensure the success of the initiatives outlined. MEB's initiatives include:

  • Turning 1,600 two-session schools into one-session entities
  • Increasing school hours by one (1) or two (2 ) hours
  • Using the additional hours for language classes such as Bahasa Malaysia, English or other languages
  • Remedial classes (outside normal school hours) for weak students
  • 9,000 English Language teachers to take the Cambridge Placement Test (CPT) training in October
