According to IMI CEO Steve Nash, the agreement targets to upgrade the skills of 1,000 candidates in the next 12 months. He added that Malaysia's automotive industry has a strong existing workforce and has the talent to grow by leaps and bounds.

This is in response to the country's growing number of hybrid and electric vehicles which is over 20,000 at present. The full import and tax-free advantages has helped contribute to the significant growth of these types of vehicle.
