Local students luckier than overseas counterparts in securing jobs

• 70 per cent of graduates find employment soon after graduation
• Graduates of other countries have higher unemployment than in Malaysia

Higher Education Minister Datuk Seri Mohamed Khaled Nordin was quoted saying that Malaysia’s graduates are more fortunate than that of other countries. He said over 70 percent of local graduates found jobs within six months of graduation due to ample job opportunities.

Quoted by the Malaysian Insider, the Minister said, “We are not saddled with high unemployment rate like other countries where graduates remain unemployed for up to two years,” during the Graduate Career Accelerated Programme Convocation held today.

Last year, about 800,000 job opportunities were created, said Deputy Prime Minister Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin.
