Medical graduates may have to take a licensing exam to practise.
The Health Ministry is proposing that the government require doctors to pass a licensing examination before allowing them to practise in the country. This move, when approved, ensures that all medical graduates from local and foreign universities go through a standardised exam.
Furthermore, this will also raise the minimum educational qualifications for students interested to pursue a medical degree. Presently, the minimum requirement is 4Bs in the core science subjects at SPM level and a CGPA score of 3.0 at the STPM/Matriculation level.
