Candidates from rural area gave a tough competition to candidates in urban area based on STPM 2015 results, said President of the Malaysian Examinations Council, Prof Datuk Seri Dr Mohamed Mustafa.
Dr Mohamed Mustafa said, although the STPMresults this year increased compared to the previous year, the increase was more pronounced in rural areas with an increment of 0.07 point.
The STPM2015 average CGPA of rural students is 2.61 , while urban students is 2.67.
"The gap between urban and rural areas is getting smaller than ever," he said in a press conference.
However , the number of those who got all A's in STPMdeclined 0.11 percent compared to the previous year.
