The government needs to be committed to overcoming the crisis of faith that is often experienced by teenagers via Al-Quran and Fardu Ain classes (Kafa) in secondary schools throughout the country.
President of the Malaysian Chinese Muslim Association (CMA), Prof. Dr. Taufiq Yap Yun Hin said the inclusion of the Islamic religion in secondary schools through Islamic Education subject alone is clearly not enough for the students.
He said the teen life is very challenging and should anything goes wrong and shakes their faith, it will lead to negative things such as pregnancy out of wedlock.
"Kafa is currently only carried out in primary school, but I think it will better if secondary school students from Year One to Five also continue with the assessment."
