JPA Program Pelajar Cemerlang 2017 (PPC)

Applicants are invited to apply for the JPA-sponsored degree students to continue their studies at masters and doctoral degrees in various fields at universities identified by the Public Service Department (PSD) under the Excellent Student Program (PPC) of 2017.

General Requirements

  • Malaysian citizen not more than 26 years of age for Master's degree studies and 30 years of age for PhD level of studies on the year of application;
  • Students were JPA/ PSD sponsored students at the stage of their first degree
  • Students who are eligible to apply are students who graduated with their first degree from 2016 until the closing date of this application for this sponsorship where it is intended to allow time for students to achieve enrollment.
  • Students have received conditional / unconditional offer from a university and pursuing studies on a full-time basis. The list of universities can be found on Lampiran A (at the bottom of the screen)
  • Students must have graduated in a fixed time and never had any extension during their first degree.
  • Students must commence their studies before or at the age of 31 as of December 2017.
  • The Masters Degree programme applied is not rated as equivalent of a Bachelor’s Degree for the purpose of selection into the Public Service Department. For example, the Government has set that the Master's of Engineering (M.Eng) qualification from universities in the United Kingdom are considered at the same level as a Bachelor’s Degree or RIBA Part II for the study of architecture whereby it is considered equivalent to a Bachelor’s Degree and not a Master’s.
  • Have 12 months remaining for a Master's programme or 24 months for a PhD programme.

Specific Requirements

  • Obtained First Class Degree or minimum CGPA of 3.75 or equivalent during the first degree or Master's level, inside the country or abroad.
  • For United Kingdom, Australia, New Zealand and Japan, the minimum academic qualification is as follows:

  • Non-sponsored fields of study are medicine, dentistry, pharmacy, education, nursing, courses that require students to take flight licenses and professional courses such as ACCA, LINUX and CLP.

MECHANISM OF LOAN AGREEMENT

  • Successful candidates who are offered sponsorship under this program and agree to be sponsored by PSD are subjected to the terms of the bond PSD agreement as follows:The loan will be converted to a scholarship and students will be exempted from paying it back should they serve in the JPA
  • Repayment of 25% of the total borrowings if student chooses to work with a Government Linked Company (GLC)
  • Repayment of 50% of the total loan amount if students work with a private company within the country
  • If the scenario is other than the above, students are required to repay the full value of the loan.

  • Applications are open for seven (7) days from July 18, 2017 (Tuesday) from 9.00 am to 24 July 2017 (Monday) at 5.00 pm.
  • Candidates can refer to the programme information and Frequently Ask Questions (FAQ) uploaded at eSILA Portal for more information about the programmes offered. Candidates are allowed to register, update / amend the application before the application closing date.
  • Candidates must ensure that the application process is complete by printing the Sponsorship Application Slip.
