Non-Korean students enrolled in a full-time degree program in Korea may work at a part-time job up to 20 hours per week during the semester and unlimited hours during summer or winter vacations.
Universities themselves hire a large number of their own students to help out with various jobs around campus.
Only those who have certain skills or professional abilities as stipulated under Korean immigration laws are allowed to work full-time. Possible activities include college lecturing (E-1), foreign language teaching (E-2), conducting research (E-3), technological assistance (E-4), professional skills (E-5), arts and entertainment (E-6), and specially designed activities (E-7).
The Gold card system, based on the new employment regulations for international students allows those who have graduated from a university in Korea with a major in IT, e-business, BT, NT, new materials, transportation equipment, digital electronics, environment and energy to stay and work in Korea. www.goldcard.or.kr.

1. Visa for Regular Educational Programs (D-2)
This visa is issued to those who apply for a regular or a special research program in a junior college, college, university, graduate school or research institute.
2. Visa for General Training (D-4)
This visa is issued to those who study Korean in a language institute at a university, who study in a qualified educational institute, or get technical or educational training at a national or public research or training institute.
