Sim Tze Tzin, Strategic Manager of a local political party claims, there are a handful of students with excellent SPM results not being offered a place in public universities.
"If students with a pointer of 3.0 and above are considered as brilliant, then 95 students from matriculation and STPM leavers who obtained a CGPA of 3.0 and above were not given any place in public university. This greatly surprised us," he said.
He says that the ministry should display greater transparency and exhibit professionalism for the intake into public universities.
Sim Tze Tzin argued that the ministry has failed to announce clear selection guidelines since STPM and Matriculation were first held 20 years ago.
