On a three day visit to India, Mr. Ahmad Zahid, the Malaysian Deputy Prime Minister, is to discuss strengthening ties between the two nations in economy, tourism and education among other ties as Malaysia and India celebrate 60 years of diplomatic relations.India – Malaysia ties to increase number of Indian students in Malaysia

Mr. Zahid said that there are at least 5,000 Malaysian students in India. Meanwhile, numbers from the UNESCO suggest that there are at least 1,300 students from India in Malaysia. The new collaboration may contribute to the increase of Indian students in Malaysia.

Although Indian students are still attracted to studying in destinations like the US, Australia and the UK, this represents an alternative for talented students who lack the financial support to study in these countries where tuition and cost of living are extremely high. In Malaysia, tuition fees and cost of living are very affordable in comparison to the US, Australia and the UK.

The UK’s higher education is still attractive for Indian students with approximately 20,000 students in the UK. However, it is becoming increasingly unattainable due to expected increase in tuition fees, hostile immigration laws, and expected higher cost of living as a result of the #Brexit situation.

The good news is that Indian students can still get a UK Degree, an Australian degree or a US degree from Malaysia at Malaysian prices.
