Increase in Terengganu Foundation funding

Yayasan Terengganu (YT) has allocated more than RM60 million in sponsoring students overseas since 2015.

Director of Terengganu Foundation (YT), Mohamad Sulong said the number showed an increase due to several factors, mainly the depreciation of the Malaysian Ringgit.

"Prior to this, we have only spent about RM40 million for students to go abroad, however that number has increased in recent years as a result of the fall of the ringgit.

"Although the economic conditions and currency exchange positions are currently not so stable, we will continue to sponsor students to study overseas in various fields," he told reporters at the YT office.

So far, there are 625 students from Terengganu who are abroad to study in various fields and a total of 119 students will complete their studies this year.
