Higher Education Ministry expects 50% rise in allocation

  • The Higher Education Ministry expects to see a 50 percent increase in allocation under Budget 2013 from 400 million ringgit presently.
  • Its Minister Datuk Seri Mohd Khaled Nordin said much of the additional allocation will be used to further expand research and development in public universities.
  • Datuk Seri Khaled said education will remain the government's top priority and the ministry will receive a lion's share of the annual budget as in previous years.
  • It was reported that the Education Ministry is also seeking a higher allocation for next year to implement the recently unveiled National Education Blueprint.
