Higher allowance for Healthcare services trainees next year

During the Budget 2013 announcement, government will raise the allowance of healthcare services trainees. A budget worth RM84 million will be pumped in to help alleviate trainees' high cost of living.
Those holding certificates will see their current RM517 allowance to increase RM835 whereas diploma holders will go up from RM621 to RM1,166.According to the Ministry of Higher Education, the total cost of living per student could range from RM1,000 to RM1,417 a month. This is just a rough estimate of potential expenses and is subject to inflation.Aside from the allowance increase, more job vacancies will be made available next year. This year, 1,681 nurses were recruited by government hospitals. The Ministry of Health hopes this figure will increase to reach 6,726 recruits by 2015.The country currently has 66,000 nurses working in government hospitals nationwide and another 8,000 were reported to be unemployed. Recently, the Ministry of Higher Education has stopped accepting applications to set up new nursing schools.
