The Ministry of Higher Education submitted a proposal to add the number of streams offered in secondary schools.
Deputy Minister Datuk Saifuddin Abdullah said that more options aside from Science or Arts subjects would better prepare students for tertiary education
He also added that this move can also help students specialise a lot earlier and be more employable.
Certain schools already offer other streams where students can pick subjects like economics and accounts.
He explained that science stream students do have the option to take up extra subjects but they do not have the flexibility to drop any of their science subjects.
He thinks this is a good move because students nowadays are more decisive about their futures
