New and existing programmes to chase away first interview jitters!
The government will set up a special committee under the Ministry of Finance and the Ministry of Higher Education to enhance cooperation between universities and the industry in streamlining market needs while reducing the number of unemployed graduates in the future.
Datuk Seri Najib Razak said the committee will be chaired by Minister in the Prime Minister Department, Datuk Seri Abdul Wahid Omar in collaboration with Higher Education Minister Datuk Seri Idris.
"This is a joint venture between academy and the market, all of our programmes must be based on two aspects: university planning and market needs," said the nation's PM.
On the other hand, SL1M is an existing government programme to enhance the marketability or the ability of graduates to find work in collaboration with government-linked companies (GLCs) and the private sector to implement the SL1M programmes as part of their Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR).
Until now, SL1M has helped nearly 70,000 graduates to get jobs and become more competitive in building a career, thus contributing to the reduction of unemployment among graduates in the country.
