Form 6/STPM classes to begin 8 May

Form 6 or STPM (Sijil Tinggi Persekolahan Malaysia) classes in government and private secondary schools will begin on 8 May 2013, according to Jabatan Pelajaran Selangor. Touted as the most difficult pre-university programme, Form 6 is a qualification recognised by local and foreign institutions of higher learning.

Last year, the new modular system was launched which allows students to take examinations at the end of each 3 semesters. Previously, STPM adapted a terminal system which assesses students in one major examination during the final semester. With the new system in place, this dismisses the notion that Form 6 is tough as it also allows students to resit and improve their overall grade during the first two semesters.

As usual, students can take as much as five subjects.
